Quick Treats to Whip Up

Spiced Cookie Strips 

1 Tube (18 ounces) refrigerated sugar cookie dough
2 tablespoons all -purpose flour
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

*Remove cookie dough from package and coat with flour. Shake excess flour onto work surface. Roll out dough on floured surface into a 12 inch x 8 inch rectangle. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut rectangle in half lengthwise. Cut widthwise into 1 inch strips. Carefully transfer strips to two un- greased baking sheets. 
Combine butter and spices; brush over strips.
Bake at 425 degree's for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool for 2 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks. Makes 2 dozen

Garlic Tomato Bruschetta 

1/4 Cup Olive or Canola Oil 
3 tablespoons chopped, fresh basil
3 to 4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt (or you can omit) 
1/4 teaspoon peper
4 medium tomatoes, diced
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheece
1 Loaf (1 pound) unsliced French Bread

* In a bowl, combine oil, basil, garlic, salt and pepper. Add tomatoes and toss gently. Sprinkle with cheese. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Bring to room temperature before serving. Cut bread into 24 slices; toast under broiler until lightly browned. Top with tomato mixture. Serve Immediately. 12 servings. 


Snack Bars

1- 1/3 cups all - purpose flour
1- 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup baking cocoa
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt, (you can omit) 
4 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup each milk chocolate chips, semisweet chocolate chips and vanilla or white chips
3 Snickers candy cars (2.07 ounces each) cut into 1/4- inch pieces

*In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, backing powder and salt. Combine the eggs and butter; add the chips. Transfer to a greased 13 inch by 9 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Immediately sprinkle with candy bar pieces. Cool on wire wrack. Makes 2 dozen
